Hazeline “Hazel” Mance Jackson was born and raised in South Carolina. She graduated High School with honors; attended the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, however received a Bachelor of Science from Hampton University, Hampton, Virgina and a Masters of Theology from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
Hazel is married to her High School sweetheart, Lawrence Jackson, celebrating 43 years of marriage. She is the mother of two sons, Lawrence, II (deceased) and Kevin (Jocelyn) and grandmother of two beautiful, vibrant granddaughters.
Careers include Assistant Buyer for the JCPenney Company, New York, New York; High School Marketing Coordinator for Ross Sterling, High School, Houston Independent Independent School District, Houston, Texas and Willowridge High School and she was selected the Teacher of the Year during her tenure in Fort Bend Independent School District. She left the school system and became an Allstate Insurance Agent, owning her Insurance Agency for twenty four years and received several awards during her tenure. After retiring from Allstate, she is currently an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, and until recently she served as senior Pastor of Ashford United Methodist Church, Houston, Texas where she retired in 2018.
She has been a Christian all of her life. She was raised in the Methodist Church in SC, however worshipped and grew up in her faith at Windsor Village United Methodist Church, Houston for 26 1/2 years before being ordained as a Pastor. She held many leadership positions, i.e. Altar Guild Chairperson, Chairperson of Worship, SPRC, ministry candidate mentor, capital campaign facilitator, Bible Study Teacher and worked behind the scenes in many activities. As an ordained Pastor involved in the Texas Annual Conference, she is a former Chairperson of COSROW (Committee on the Status and Role of Women), a Vibrant Church Initiative Coach and a member of the SW District Committee of Ordained Ministry.
Grief Counseling, Teaching Bible Study and Premarital Counseling are her favorite opportunities to assist others.
